Wildcard falls short against 9z
After having their upset dreams dashed by Danil "donk" Kryshkovets yesterday, Wildcard lost their second straight series at ESL Pro League, sending the North American team down to the lower bracket.
Like yesterday's match versus Team Spirit, the series began on Ancient, and again Wildcard struggled to string together rounds on the T side of their map pick. They finished with just four rounds at half-time for the second straight time, but there was no second-half resurgence on the CT side versus 9z. Antonio "Martinez" Martinez led the way for 9z, putting up the most kills and the least deaths in each half and only dying once on the second half T-side to produce an easy 13-6 win on Ancient.
On Nuke, Wildcard finally managed to go into half-time with a lead for the first time in Pro League, taking a 7-5 lead after their CT side. After taking the T-side pistol, Wildcard finally had the chance to play in front instead of from behind but immediately lost to a 9z force buy, leading to an 8-8 tie. A heroic A site hold from Nicolás "buda" Kramer in the 18th round ended up being the momentum shift that carried 9z Globant to victory, with the Argentinian delivering again in the final round on another forcebuy to cement the 13-10 win on Nuke.
Wildcard has no more room for error going forward. In the lower bracket of ESL Pro League Season 20, it will play a KOI team that put up just one round versus The MongolZ tomorrow.
