LAG disband after poor start to 2025
Dust2.us has confirmed with LAG in-game leader Deniz "Experative" Mutlum that the team has disbanded, with the squad set to forfeit their remaining matches in ESL Challenger League Season 49 while also dropping out of the PGL Astana Closed qualifier and the Dust2.us Eagle Master Series #1.
The dissolution of the LAG squad comes after a difficult season for the reconstituted lineup, with the team sitting at a dismal 1-23 record in ESL Challenger League Season 49 while only winning seven maps in three months since the start of 2025.
Outside of the team's poor performance, Experative told Dust2.us that a key factor in the team disbanding is Samet "SnacKZ1" Hosel never making the jump to North America, with the German player failing to travel to the United States due to missing multiple flights while also running into visa problems. Additionally, Experative said Turkish-American player Alperen "TR0JN" Kilic is set to return to Turkey for an extended period while Experative himself is set to go on vacation to Turkey in short order.
With the team split between two continents continuing to compete to salvage a struggling squad like LAG ultimately proved untenable, leading to the lineup calling it quits.
LAG consisted of:
-
Wyatt "Weeza" Sahrmann
-
Deniz "Experative" Mutlum
-
Samet "SnacKZ1" Hosel
-
Eric "spud" Wickenhauser
-
Alperen "TR0JN" Kilic
With LAG dissolving, PGL will need to scramble to find a replacement for the PGL Astana NA Closed Qualifier before it kicks off on March 27th.
