Complexity to face NAVI after loss against Vitality
After clinching the organization's first-ever Royal Arena appearance with an incredible 2-0 win over Astralis, Complexity faced off against Vitality, the current #5 team in the HLTV rankings, just one place ahead of the North Americans. With the promise of a path into semifinals for the Cowboys, Complexity went into battle against the European superteam. Unfortunately for Complexity, after a roller coaster ride of a series, Vitality ultimately came out on top with a 2-1 win, setting up a confrontation between Complexity and NAVI in the quarterfinals.
The first map was Anubis, picked by Complexity. It did not start off well, as Vitality won seven rounds in a row before the North American squad could score just one. That one round was all Complexity got during the CT-side. The second half was not much different, as Vitality, once again, only lost one round and closed the map 13-2.
Nuke was picked by Vitality and Complexity managed to win more rounds in just three attempts on Nuke than during all Anubis. After opening the map with a 3-0 advantage, Vitality tied the game and it fell into a back-and-forth state with the first half ending 7-5 in favor of Complexity. Now on the T-side, Complexity managed to extend the lead to 10-6 but Vitality managed to keep things interesting and took the game to overtime after being down 11-8. Overtime went smoothly for Complexity, as Vitality only managed to win one and Nuke ended 16-13.
The third and final map was Inferno and Vitality started off strong despite falling down 3-2 early on the CT-side. The European squad would go to the halftime break 9-3 ahead as Complexity couldn't produce any more rounds. During the second half, Complexity showed a bit more life but Vitality still had the upper hand which resulted in a 4-4 half and a 13-7 final score for Vitality.
With this win, Vitality will go directly to the semifinal, while Complexity will face NAVI in the quarterfinal.
