Official: Liquid part ways with Rainwaker
Liquid announced today that support rifler Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov is no longer part of the organization, precisely five months after he joined, on June 22nd. This move is just another one in a long list of roster changes the organization has undergone in the last half a year, transitioning from a North American squad to a European core and now, reportedly, to an Americas trio.
Rainwaker's move is just another piece of the puzzle falling into place, making way for the reported signings of Felipe "skullz" Medeiros, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, and Casper "cadiaN" Møller.
Only just five months after being signed by Liquid, Rainwaker is on his way out. He joined the organization as the last addition in its shock pivot towards a European core, which ultimately fell flat. Rainwaker was the less experienced member of the European iteration of the squad and it showed inside the server, with the Bulgarian being the lowest-rated player of the five, on average.
This scenario has been taking shape for some time now. Before the start of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown Americas, Liquid had announced that Rainwaker would be moved to the bench, only for said event, with then coach Damian "daps" Steele taking his place on the active lineup as a stand-in.
Despite managing to reach the grand final of the tournament, Robert "Patsi" Isyanov first, daps after, and finally Rainwaker would all be let go by Liquid. Not even Josh "oSee" Ohm, survived, recently getting benched amidst rumors of a move to NRG, as the legendary North American organization seeks a comeback to the Counter-Strike franchise. The only untouched members were Keith "NAF" Markovic and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, with the former recently signing a contract extension until mid-2026.
Adding skullz and Twistzz would see a core of two Canadians and one Brazilian claim back Liquid's spot in the Americas RMR. With the addition of cadiaN, YEKINDAR would go back to being free as a bird, as the Dane would take over the IGL and AWPer roles.
