Astralis claims 3rd place against FaZe, despite losing five-OT first map

Hate-watchers in the mud.

Astralis secured third place at PGL Cluj-Napoca today, defeating FaZe in the third place match to earn a bigger share of the prize pool and a bigger bump in the rankings.

Map one on Mirage was finally decided after five overtime periods, with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowsk proving to be the difference maker in one of his best games in a FaZe uniform. Inferno was far less close though, as Astralis looked in control the whole map while FaZe looked disorganized.

The series was decided on Ancient, which Astralis looked poised to run away with early on, before FaZe woke up to make it a 6-6 half. The second half was a similar story, with Astralis winning the early rounds before FaZe finally responded. But it was the last remaining vestige of the old Astralis dynasty, Nicolai "device" Reedtz, who finished off FaZe with a 3K on the A site.
