ESL introduce changes to their rulebook to address controversy
Yesterday, February 21st, ESL announced changes to their rulebook from now on.
Most notably, the tournament organizer included language explicitly prohibiting in-game items that violate their code of conduct.
All in-game items, including skins, nametags, and stickers (or any combination of stickers), must fully comply with the code of conduct and sponsor restrictions outlined in the General Rules.
Previously, their rulebook only mentioned using prohibited nametags on in-game items.
This change was likely brought to fruition by Vladislav "Krad" Kravchenko's use of a racist word on a Desert Eagle skin craft.
ESL also added a new rule which means that a team that participates for one of the TO's longer form events must use the majority of their roster for half of the competition.
A participant must use the majority of the roster invited to the competition until it has completed the majority of its matches during the first phase of the regular season. For qualified teams, the majority of the roster from the last match in the qualifying competition must be retained.
The full details of the rulebook changes may be found here.
