Danger Zone will most likely not return in CS2, according to GabeFollower's findings

The battle royale mode is being deleted entirely.

Danger Zone, the niche battle royale mode that was playable in CS:GO, will not return in CS2. According to GabeFollower, one of the most prominent CS2 dataminers, Valve is getting rid of Danger Zone altogether instead of implementing it in the game.

Danger Zone never became popular in CS:GO as most pros and streamers didn't really give it a chance. The idea of having a fast-paced battle royale with up to 18 players scrapping for resources until just one is alive is very different than traditional Counter-Strike play.

In some regions, Danger Zone was just a server for people to run around with cheats rather than having fun. Valve hasn't cared to bring Danger Zone to CS2 thus far, as the developers focused more on Premier mode, rebuilding maps, and adding new cosmetics.

GabeFollower's findings are in line with what Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill heard around the Perfect World Shanghai Major, when he said on an episode of the Talking Counter podcast that Danger Zone wouldn't return. The Australian caster was one of the most enthusiastic fans of Danger Zone alongside the ESL observer and producer Alexander "Rushly" Rush.

Valve has been much criticized by part of the community for not focusing on more casual modes such as Deathmatch and Arms Race since CS2 was released in 2023. For these fans, the game feels empty in terms of content and worse than CS:GO in that regard.
