Complexity have to break out the stratbook for this one

What to expect from Complexity v. Vitality

A battle for a semifinal spot.

Both Vitality and Complexity won their opening BLAST Fall Final match in 2-0 fashion, curiously both against Danish opposition as well. Vitality took down Heroic fairly easily. Meanwhile, while Complexity snatched away Astralis' Ancient pick handily, they needed fourteen rounds in a row to take Overpass, ten of those on map point. Still, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades as these teams will look to secure a semifinal spot in front of Copenhagen's Royal Arena.

An English player? On my French team?

The big story about Vitality is swapping in William "mezii" Merriman to replace the four-time Major winner Emil "Magisk" Reif. As leader Dan "apEX" Madesclaire recently said in an HLTV interview, "Replacing Magisk is not going to happen, so some newcomers have to step up." mezii recorded an unremarkable 1.00 rating in the opening match against Heroic, but now against a team who isn't looking to blow up after this event, will he step up or stumble?

  • mezii held a 1.00 rating against Heroic: not great, not terrible

  • ZywOo does ZywOo things. If he has one of those games, Complexity needs to shut him down

  • Eager to get back to LAN, but an unimpressive record in CS2 thus far

Complexity, the five-pointed star

Complexity have reinvented themselves with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski on the roster. The veteran offers a breadth of experience to teach the upstart North Americans that helps in a variety of ways, from shortening comms, pure fragging power, or a calm demeanor that instills confidence. To put it simply, EliGE knows how to win, and he's teaching the rest of Complexity those lessons. The other prongs of the five-pointed star have become sharper as a result, with each player reaching new heights under the new tenureship. The process netted a grand final appearance at Sydney, but fell just short at the finish line. The team will be eager to make up for the lost opportunity in Copenhagen.

  • Coming back from 2-12 down against Astralis proves an indomitable spirit

  • EliGE has been in cracking form, but needs to keep it up

  • JT has, somewhat surprisingly, been fragging hard. To beat Vitality, he must do it again

Previous Matchups

These two cores have gone at it once before, at the BLAST Fall Groups earlier this year. Vitality won 32-7 so I'd rather skip this section. Read on to "Likely Vetoes".

Likely Vetoes

Off a last-place finish at IEM Sydney, Vitality do not have too many CS2 officials to go off of, but we can make a pretty decent guess as to how this match will end up.

  • Complexity ban Mirage

  • Vitality ban Ancient

  • Complexity pick Anubis

  • Vitality pick Inferno

  • Decider Nuke
