FACEIT announce changes to FPL and FPL-C
FACEIT have announced a number of changes to FPL and FPL-C, featuring new additions to the coveted league whilst also tweaking the monthly FPL-C prizepool in favor of three 10-day leaderboards.
Jared "Slove" Sloven has linked up with FACEIT as the new project manager of FPL North America, with the new recruit previously being a part of Mythic League as its manager, being responsible for the organization of the renowned Mythic Cups which have proved to be a lifeline for teams in NA.
As previously mentioned, FPL-C sees a change in its prize distribution beginning March 1st, moving from a monthly leaderboard to a thrice-monthly system with $1,000 set to be distributed amongst the top five players.
This change, however, will not affect the number of players being promoted, with FACEIT opting to currently retain the previous promotion system which sees the two with the highest points by the end of the season receiving FPL invites.
When contacted by Dust2.us, Slove explained that the change in prizepool distribution is aimed at fixing the recurring issue of the first place spot being almost guaranteed by the midpoint of the season. Slove also dismissed concerns of players prioritizing money over FPL promotion, citing few examples of this in Mythic League which runs a similar system.
Elsewhere, FPL sees some new additions, with Bad News Bears duo Saad "Pluto" Siraj and Khizar "MoMo" Rehman, alongside X13 youngster Otto "garfield" Netteberg, all being invited to the league.
Changes that will only affect Europe, but with the potential of being added to the North American circuits, include a new scouting aspect, with players only able to enter the upper league via the recommendation of certain FPL Mentors. Those who are invited will be subjected to a two week trial period, extended to three months thereafter, before being formally introduced as official FPL members should the trialists succeed.
FPL-C Europe also sees the need for 3,000 ELO, an account age of at least one year by the time of the qualifier in question, and a minimum of 1,000 matches played.
