Maniac admits "unacceptable behavior" in statement

The commentator failed to address the victims and the allegations made against him.

After multiple women came forward with allegations of inappropriate behavior and accusations of sexual assault, CS2 desk host and commentator Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez posted on X a confirmation of his past actions, opening up about his "problematic relationship with alcohol," which he blames for his wrongdoing.

Quiquerez's last few days have been filled with accusations from different women, which led to him being removed from analyst desks by multiple tournament organizers, such as ESL, BLAST, and PGL.

While, initially, Quiquerez argued that his interaction with Hannah Marie, a freelance journalist who was the first to come forward with the accusation of sexual assault, was consensual, further victims and eyewitnesses confirmed that Marie wasn't the only woman to be assaulted and that there were other interactions between the CS2 commentator and women that were not consensual, some dating back a couple of years.

Today, Quiquerez has released a statement where he talks about his struggle with alcohol, and unfruitful attempts to control it, and even mentions his difficult childhood years. While the former CS:GO pro believes his behavior was unacceptable and he is sorry for it, he is also aware that "sorry doesn't even begin to cover it" and states that he "never wanted to hurt anyone." Quiquerez has also said that he will be taking his time to reassess his life and is aware that he let many people down, including himself.

Quiquerez didn't directly address the accusations made against him nor the women who accused him of sexual assault, groping, and non-consensual touching.

In a separate post in the same thread, Quiquerez promised to record a video in the future in which he takes accountability for his mistakes while attempting to apologize "properly", believing that he owes that to the people he has let down.
