NRG let FURIA upset slip away, exit ESL Pro League S21

So close.

NRG were just a couple rounds away from knocking off FURIA at ESL Pro League Season 21, but a chance to reach the final round of stage one slipped away due to a familiar face to NA fans.

Like M80 did prior in the day, NRG struggled on their own map pick, giving up a huge 10-2 lead in the first half of Train. NRG fought almost all the way back in regulation, but couldn't convert round 24, falling 13-10.

However, NRG answered back in a big way on Dust2, with an impressive 9-2 T-side in the second half to pave the way for a 13-10 win.

On Mirage, NRG scraped together an 11-10 lead and was firing on all cylinders on their second half T-side. But a back-breaking 3K from Felipe "skullz" Medeiros, who fans remember from his brief stint with Liquid, reversed the momentum, allowing FURIA to take the final three rounds and secure the series. Skullz was the focal point for FURIA on Mirage, ending the map with 32 kills and only 14 deaths.
