"Carson Cup" charity event goes live to raise money for deceased pro's family
In late February it was announced that former Counter-Strike: Source pro Carson "classified" Holt passed away at the age of 36, leading to an outpouring of support from many of his contemporaries in the Source scene. One major source of support and remembrance for the pro has come from NRG Senior Director of Content and esports veteran David "DchozN" Cho, who has today launched the "Carson Cup" charity tournament alongside caster Trottah to raise money to support Holt's family in the wake of his passing.
The "Carson Cup" aims to raise money for Holt's mother whom the former pro supported, with the goal being to raise $10,000 for funeral expenses and financially support her during this difficult time.
The charity event itself features eight teams consisting of old NA Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source players who knew and competed alongside classified during his time in the Source scene. Some familiar names include former Mythic player Todd "anger" Williams, Kyle "Mustang" Cummings of Dallas Venom and Mike "decipLe" Baker of Area 51.
The event is currently in the semifinals so be sure to check out Trottah's stream and donate to a good cause if you can. The full bracket can be found here while the GoFundMe link may be found here.
