ECL S49 Week 10 recap - Getting Info move into first, NRG hit their stride, playoffs loom

Getting Info went on a tear this week.

A busy week 10 came to an end in ECL this past weekend, which saw teams jockeying for playoff seeding. Getting Info hit some good form, winning all six of their matches this week to bring their record to an impressive 22-4.

Getting Info won their first double best-of-one this week via forfeit against BLUEJAYS, after which they played against Bad News Capybaras and Akimbo. The North Americans took all four maps against those two teams to put a gap between themselves and the second-placed BLUEJAYS at the top of the table with only a few games left to be played.

The hunt for the final playoff spots is heating up as Party Astronauts, Akimbo, Marsborne, and Bad News Capybaras are fighting for the last three seeds in postseason play. Currently, Bad News Capybaras are on the outside looking in, but they do have two games in hand over the tenth-placed Akimbo, which could see them leapfrog the Mongolians, who have just one more win than the Capybaras.

The most exciting matchup of the week came from Nouns v. Vagrants. Both sides have already locked into playoff spots and are very close in the standings before these games. The first best-of-one came on Ancient, where Nouns got out to an 8-0 lead before Vagrants brought the score to 8-4 at the half. Again, Nouns leapt ahead in the second half, securing themselves eight map points at 12-4 before Vagrants rallied once again. Four rounds would be all Vagrants would get again before Nouns ended the map 13-8. Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell put up ten frags in either half to lead his team to victory in the first map.

The second best-of-one took place on Dust2 and it looked very bleak for Vagrants from the start. Nouns claimed all but one round in the first half to put themselves 11-1 up going to their T side, just two rounds from victory. Vagrants refused to go down quietly, though, rattling off eleven straight rounds to secure themselves a single map point at 12-11. Nouns went on to win that round and force overtime. Vagrants came agonizingly close to winning but went down CS:GO-style 16-14 and lost both maps v. Nouns.

Some notable matchups this week are:
