A big price to pay, even for a superstar

m0NESY transfer to Falcons reportedly worth $2.5 million

A big chunk of change to get the star AWPer before his G2 deal expires.

According to Team Spirit scout and CIS insider Aleksey "OverDrive" Biryukov, the transfer cost to be paid by Falcons for G2 AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov is around $2.5 million.

Just this past Saturday, long-time Counter-Strike reporter Guillaume "neL" Rathier reported that m0NESY would join Falcons in a matter of weeks, in what they referred to as "a multi-million dollar deal and the biggest transfer in Counter-Strike history."

If OverDrive's $2.5 million figure is accurate, it would be roughly double the transfer figure that Falcons reportedly paid to G2 for Nikola "NiKo" Kovač.

Coincidentally, when asked about m0NESY potentially joining Falcons back in February, OverDrive told HLTV that he didn't think m0NESY would join the Saudi organization's roster, though he also didn't outright fully dismiss it. OverDrive said then that G2 were very interested in selling him before his deal expired, and noted that FaZe was a potential option. OverDrive also said that m0NESY was looking at CIS teams because he wanted to speak in his native language, though ironically he will be replacing the only other CIS player in Falcons' current AWPer, Abdulkhalik "degster" Gasanov.

Both G2 and Falcons are currently competing at PGL Bucharest, but it may not be long after the event concludes that the deal is officially made.
