Wildcard unveil first player on new academy team

The Swedish youngster is the first piece of Wildcard's EU academy team.

Wildcard have announced the first player on their European academy squad, seeing 17-year-old Swedish rifler Leo "Wonder" Wänlund join the project alongside previously announced coach Łukasz "splawik" Jahns.

The young player joins Wildcard Academy in his first international team after previously playing for Young Gods and GODSENT in 2023 and 2024, respectively, alongside an entirely Swedish cast.

Wildcard have been quietly assembling their academy squad behind the scenes for over the past month, with the organization seemingly closing in on a quintet in recent weeks.

A somewhat poorly disguised team named WCAC (any ideas what that stands for?) recently qualified for ESEA Advanced Season 52 EU and has been seen fielding a number of players including Slovak Michal "T4gg3D" Vrzal, former Astralis Talent player Simon "sSen" Solnæs Iversen, and Dutch pro Giovanni "Wumbo" Türkeli alongside Wonder and splawik. The team currently has a 2-1 record in the division.

With Wildcard Academy announcing Wonder today, more announcements are expected in the coming days as Wildcard unveil their academy team to the public.

Wildcard Academy currently consists of:

  • Sweden Leo "Wonder" Wänlund

  • Łukasz "splawik" Jahns (Coach)

Again, I'm disappointed. We need academy support in NA.
