NRG impress on Train, but still fall to GamerLegion at ESL Pro League S21
NRG's debut match against international competition started well, but the NA team failed to hold onto their series against GamerLegion in round one of ESL Pro League Season 21 play.
NRG had all the momentum in map one on Train, dominating GamerLegion on both sides of the map. Jadan "HexT" Postma backed up his trash talk with a top-of-the-scoreboard performance.
GamerLegion responded on Inferno, taking over the map after switching to their CT-side, denying Joshua "oSee" Ohm the ability to pick up even 1 kill in the second half.
Things really got away from NRG early on Mirage, as GamerLegion ran through their CT setups in 9 of the first 10 rounds. NRG started to mount a comeback on their own T-side half, but it simply wasn't enough.
While NRG managed to avoid a one-sided loss in their first taste of European action, losing the series after such a strong showing on Train will certainly sting. It also reveals to other teams competing where the weak and strong points in their map pool are.
NRG's next match at ESL Pro League S21 is against Nemiga Gaming in the 0-1 pool of the second round.
