PGL unveil new prize pool structure for Bucharest and future events in line with competitors

Organizations will now take home 50% of the prize pool share in PGL Bucharest and future PGL events.

PGL has updated the prize pool split for PGL Bucharest 2025. Instead of making a single payment as they did for the Cluj-Napoca tournament, PGL will ensure that 50% of the prize pool goes to the organizations.

This marks a significant U-turn for PGL as their CEO Silviu Stroie previously said that PGL didn't want to "dictate how teams should allocate their earnings". Mr. Stroie also made the headlines recently, saying PGL will continue running CS2 events "despite concerted efforts from multiple parties" to stop them.

This change to PGL Bucharest prize pool structure is much more aligned to what BLAST and ESL have been offering to organizations.

These two other tournament organizers have incentives for organizations, which seemingly made top-tier teams favor their events and skip PGL Cluj-Napoca due to not getting revenue share.

PGL didn't mention any of that on the announcement of the new prize pool split. Instead, the Romanian tournament organizer simply said they're making this change for Bucharest and future events because of how the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) work.

"Following the VRS clarification that teams' prize pool is considered for ranking points, the prize pool will have a new distribution system starting with PGL Bucharest 2025," PGL stated.

I'm quiet surprised they changed it so quickly, sadistically I would have liked to see how long would they keep skipping events when points are very import right now for a lot of them
