Voltage is aiming high in his return to CS

Voltage: "We are 100% convinced that we are going to win Advanced"

Voltage speaks on his return to CS and more with Dust2.us.

Dust2.us' Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore had the chance to speak with Logan "Voltage" Long of MIGHT at FRAG x Block 2025 following his team's elimination to BLUEJAYS.

Voltage commented on coming back from retirement, his adjustment to CS2, reuniting with old teammates, and how the scene has changed since he left.

Find the interview in its entirety right here, and read some of the most notable bites just below:

This is your first LAN in a number of years, you just came back from retirement. How are you feeling about your own play at this LAN?

I have been struggling with the AWP a bit in CS2. I think every AWPer has said the same thing. It feels a lot different, especially when I recently started playing again. I hadn't really played CS2 since it came out. It was a huge adjustment process and at the moment, at this tournament with the PCs, the frames situation just wasn't working for me.

I couldn't AWP in the last two BO3s because I was dropping to 120 frames a lot of the times, so I had to rifle. You can't really hold angles like that, people just appear. In terms of AWPing, wasn't too good, but rifling is feeling great. Just gotta get used to AWPing in CS2.

Why come out of retirement now? What prompted this decision and what motivated you to return to Counter-Strike esports?

A lot of the issues I had whenever I was previously competing: One, the growth to potentially go to Pro League, now there's not really a direct path to pro. There is if you win ECL, but beforehand it was an actual Pro League, but now it's just EPL the LAN. It's not as clear. I was split between doing school and competing. I was half-assing both. I felt I was doing myself a disservice so I took a break from Counter-Strike, finished my degree. Once I finished it, I realized now is the time to really give it my all now that Valve implemented the VRS.

A lot of people don't like it, a lot of tier-2 teams in Europe are suffering from the problems NA has suffered from for a long time where there really isn't much of a path to getting there, which does suck for a lot of teams in the VRS. I know Marsborne got screwed from that recently. ... Now's a really good time for us for us to make a mark, make this MRQ, upset some teams, and get some stickers.

The squad finished on top of the table of ESEA Advanced with a 13-1 record. It's been a number of seasons since MIGHT's been in the ESL Challenger League, being relegated down to Advanced in late 2023. With that the goal's going to be returning to ESL Challenger League, how are you feeling about the team's confidence to make it back into ESL Challenger League?

We are fully confident we're going to win Advanced. No team has shown that they can beat us in a best-of-three in Advanced. There's an exception of those PGL qualifiers that we were starting a BO3 at 1am. We lose a BO3, we're not really like, "That was a true test." We're all tired, outback's working at 9am, it's hard. When it comes to Advanced, we're not worried about any of these teams. We know that our floor is high enough, and as long as we are not scared and playing together, we are 100% convinced that we are going to win Advanced.

ESEA Advanced playoffs begin tomorrow, March 3rd, where Voltage and MIGHT will be vying for a spot in ECL.
