G2 GM tells fans to "trust the process" after m0NESY's departure
G2's CS2 General Manager Petar "peca" Marković released a statement on Sunday, April 13, after G2 lost to Falcons in the grand finals of PGL Bucharest 2025 and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov's departure was confirmed.
In the statement, peca revealed that he initially offered his resignation after the pool results and the recent changes, but he's committed to rebuilding G2 and told fans to "trust the process".
2025 began harshly, losing our star player. Mid-season, now, hits even harder with the departure of the best player in the world.
The backlash has been fierce - I’m flooded with hateful messages, accusations, and even death threats. Tonight, after a tough loss in the finals, emotions run high, and criticism comes easy. But let me make something crystal clear:
Love me or hate me, scapegoat me or point fingers - I'm not going anywhere. After honest, deep discussions with G2’s leadership and my own offer to resign after poor results and recent changes, I stand here more committed than ever. Our foundation is strong, built through sweat, sacrifice, and relentless pursuit of excellence.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for G2. Trust the process, trust the resilience of our team, and know this: We will rise again, reclaim our glory, or go down swinging with everything we have.
And, we will not give up. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Neither will this new era of G2.
peca also remembered that G2 were in a far-worse spot when he arrived in November 2022, having missed the IEM Rio Major and not winning trophies in years.
Despite all the criticism from fans and pundits about G2's squad building, it's undeniable that peca helped G2 turn things around and become one of the best organizations in Counter-Strike esports over the past few years.
With peca in charge of the realm, G2 won six big events — including IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne in 2023 — and made deep runs in the past two CS2 Majors.
With m0NESY on his way to Falcons, G2 will reportedly play with Olek "hades" Miskiewicz in the upcoming tournaments, including the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
