G2 CEO confirms m0NESY's departure ahead of "biggest transfer in CS history"
Following the PGL Bucharest 2025 grand finals, which saw Falcons best G2 3-0 with a leading performance from Abdul "degster" Gasanov, G2's CEO Alban Dechelotte has confirmed the sale of the team's own Russian AWPer, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, on X to an undisclosed party.
While Dechelotte did not explicitly name Falcons as the buyer, anyone with a cursory interest in the scene of course knows m0NESY is bound for the Saudi organization in what has been termed the "biggest transfer in CS history", with m0NESY set to reunite with fellow former G2 player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač.
In this X post on the sale, Dechelotte stated that the team decided to approve the sale of m0NESY to Falcons as the player's contract was set to expire in December, with m0NESY almost certainly going to Falcons then on a free transfer. With G2 electing to sell m0NESY now they can now focus on the future of the squad while also making use of the nest egg generated by the multi-million dollar sale of m0NESY to Falcons.
Falcons are expected to consist of:
-
Emil "Magisk" Reif
-
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
-
René "TeSeS" Madsen
-
Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski
-
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov
-
Danny "zonic" Sørensen (Coach)
With that said, we can expect to see m0NESY to make his debut with Falcons when the team heads down under for IEM Melbourne 2025 when it kicks off on April 21st.
