PGL Belgrade 2025 set to run with no qualifiers
PGL have today announced that their upcoming Serbian LAN, PGL Belgrade 2025, will have no qualifiers, with teams exclusively earning spots in the events via the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). The change sees PGL abandon qualifiers for their LAN events after previously hosting qualifiers for Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, and Astana earlier in the year.
The decision to drop qualifiers also brings the event in line with PGL's first event of 2026, Cluj-Napoca 2026, which will also only feature VRS spots. The change in slot allocation for the event largely mirrors a trend within the scene to have events with no qualifiers as the scene rapidly approaches the second half of 2025.
The move may raise some eyebrows from smaller teams who could qualify to LANs by winning a qualifier but may not have the VRS ranking for a direct invite, especially in smaller regions.
