Complexity fall to G2 in semifinals showdown in Bucharest
Complexity have exited the PGL Bucharest 2025 playoffs following a 2-0 loss to G2 today, seeing the European squad get the better of COL once again in a rematch from the group stage. With this loss, Complexity end their first playoffs outing of 2025 with their heads hopefully held high after a massive uptick in form after a dismal start to the year with rookie additions Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk and Nick "nicx" Lee.
With the same maps coming through for their rematch (Anubis, Dust2, and Ancient), albeit in a different order, Anubis started off a decidedly different tempo as G2 were utterly dominant on their T-side, with Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov leading the charge for the team as he posted eleven kills, setting the stage for G2 to win their T-side 9-3.
With Complexity facing a heavy deficit heading into their T-side the American finally managed to get some rounds on the board, winning five out of the first six rounds in a row while nicx led the charge. This comeback was unfortunately not enough to entirely close the gap, with G2 finally regaining control in round 19 before closing out Anubis 13-8.
Moving onto Dust2, Complexity looked far strong on their T-side, with Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli proving an able challenger for m0NESY, combining with Johnny "JT" Theodosiou for 19 kills as COL narrowly won their T-side 7-5. Moving into the second half this is where the wheels began to come off the wagon for Complexity, as more insane play from m0NESY and a lackluster CT-side from COL ultimately saw G2 dominate, quickly claiming a 9-7 before closing the map out 13-9 to advance to the finals.
Complexity will now look to regroup and prepare for the third-place decider against FaZe tomorrow before heading home for the BLAST.tv Austin Major North American MRQ when it starts on April 15th.
