NIP secure $40m in investment from Abu Dhabi
Ninjas in Pyjamas has entered a four-year partnership with ADIO Holdings Restricted Limited (ADIO Group) that will net $40 million to the organization, according to a report by James Fudge of The Esports Advocate (TEA).
The acronym ADIO stands for Abu Dhabi Investment Office, which "helps investors and companies of all sizes establish their businesses, grow, and develop in Abu Dhabi."
ADIO Group will invest up to approximately $40m in NIP as long as the organization meets "certain quantitative and qualitative performance milestones", according to TEA.
One of the NIP's obligations includes establishing an Abu Dhabi-based entity to serve as its global headquarters, which should see the organization expand its presence in the Middle East. NIP plans to expand beyond its esports operations by investing in game publishing, events production, talent management, and creative studio operations.
The headquarters in Abu Dhabi will be NiP's fourth office as the organization already operates in Sweden, China, and Brazil.
This partnership with Abu Dhabi comes at a time when many organizations struggle to stay afloat and should greatly improve NIP's finances for the time being. The organization is currently investing in League of Legends, Apex Legends, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, EA Sports FC, Fortnite, and Street Fighter 6 besides its Counter-Strike 2 divisions.
