dephh on zonic's clip from BLAST : "It only adds value to viewership and engagement"
M80's head coach Rory "dephh" Jackson has weighed in on the discussion about CS2 tournament organizers sharing clips of coaches after a clip from Falcons' coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen went viral on X last Sunday, March 23th.
dephh thinks that such clips "add value to viewership" and draw parallels with traditional sports.
I always draw examples from traditional sports. In football you could find thousands of clips of elite coaches and managers saying dumb shit. The community and talent should be able to make commentary on it. It only adds value to viewership and engagement. I understand how certain folks can feel disrespected by it but a coach's true value can only be measured by their results and how their team views them. It’s really just never this deep to censor interactions unless it’s breaking competitive integrity.
dephh was one of the few community figures to back up BLAST's decision. Some of his peers, like G2's coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and Liquid's coach Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg, criticized the tournament organizer for exposing zonic.
We'll see if BLAST will change their stance on sharing similar clips when BLAST Open Lisbon playoffs kick off this Friday, March 28th. After all, Falcons launched a formal complaint after the zonic clip and other organizations may back them up.
