Former Gaimin Gladiators players sue Canadian organization
In a recent podcast appearance, former Gaimin Gladiators player Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen said that he and the former roster are pursuing legal action against the Canadian organization that suddenly dropped them at the very start of 2025.
As first reported by Danish outlet Dust2.dk, roeJ had told the organization he had wanted to be benched, and claims that GG didn't want to continue paying the players. The following was translated by Emil "mad0" Funke of Dust2.dk:
I had spoken with management about wanting to step down and be benched, and I think they realized that their contracts weren’t as good as they thought because they were non-terminable.
Of course, we didn’t get full salary, but they still had costs related to benched players. They already had Patrick "Patti" Larsen and Jason "salazar" Salazar on the bench, who were also getting paid.
roeJ then claimed that Gaimin Gladiators, feeling the weight of the cost and the roster's poor performance, went searching for a reason to terminate the deals.
We were supposed to make some small content videos every week, just talking about our daily lives or whatever. We had missed doing that for a few weeks over the time we had been there.
That’s also something that needs to be upheld. If we don’t do it, they have to give us a warning from management, and then there are certain steps they need to follow before they can terminate us on that basis—but they didn’t do that.
The players involved have assembled a legal team, and will be taking the Gaimin Gladiators organization to Canadian court. roeJ exprssed his hope that the organization will realize their argument "might not hold up completely and will consider finding an agreement where we get at least some compensation."
