M80 fall to 500 in the ICE Invitational 2025 grand finals
500 denied M80 the trophy of ICE Invitational 2025, a $25,000 LAN in Barcelona, on January 21st. M80 had a good chance to win the series themselves, but 500 had the upper hand when it came to clutches and crucial rounds.
At the beginning of the day, M80 beat Sashi in a nailbiting series. They were close to getting eliminated by the Danish team, however, the German IGL Elias "s1n" Stein was on a tear and won them two huge 1vs3 clutches on Inferno when M80 most needed it.
The result put M80 in the grand finals of ICE Invitational, giving them a chance to get revenge on 500. The Bulgarian team had beaten them in the upper bracket, but now they'd face one another in a best-of-three series.
Unfortunately for M80, they lost on their map pick Anubis, despite having a huge 10-2 advantage coming to the second half. M80 didn't show the same prowess they did on the T-side and saw Georgi "SHiPZ" Grigorov and Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov pave 500's way to OT, and consequentially win the series.
Heartbreak continued on Mirage as M80 once again lost narrowly despite a good effort from Mason "Lake" Sanderson and Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich on the map. One could argue that a third map would be fair, but 500 kept their cool in crucial rounds and ran away with the trophy.
The prize pool distribution for ICE Invitational 2025 is as follows:
1st - 500 - $10,000
2nd - M80 - $7,500
3rd - Sashi- $5,000
