Syracuse Esports to host "Orange Jam" tournament to celebrate launch of esports center

The eight-team event will bring together eight collegiate squads in Syracuse's new facility.

On January 17th, Syracuse University announced the opening of its Gaming and Esports Center located at the Schine Center, becoming the latest American university to open up dedicated esports facilities on its campus. As part of the celebration surrounding the launch of the esports center, the Syracuse Esports CS2 team have announced plans to host a student-backed eight-team collegiate LAN tournament to inaugurate the new facilities.

The event, named the "Orange Jam", will be a two-day friendly tournament between eight collegiate squads based in New England, set to run from February 8th to February 9th. The goal of the event is to provide LAN competition experience to the teams in attendance, something that is rare in the collegiate scene especially for smaller schools that lack dedicated facilities.

To that end, the event will feature two Bo1 Round Robin group stages that will lead into a single-elimination Bo3 playoffs, with a champion being named by the end of the weekend.

The team list for the Orange Jam is as follows:

United States Boston University
United States Carnegie Mellon University
United States Northeastern University
United States Rochester Institute of Technology

United States Rutgers University
United States Syracuse University
United States University of Rhode Island
United States Worcester Polytechnic Institute

The Orange Jam is set to kick off on February 8th.
