Bad News Capybaras take shape for ECL S49
Kevin "Grave" Le has announced the formation of a new team named Bad News Capybaras which is set to contest ESL Challenger League Season 49. The team, which is based around the former Take Flyte core, have claimed a spot in the league due to M80 and Wildcard withdrawing from the league this week, opening up spots for teams in ECL Season 49 that would otherwise be sent down to ESEA Advanced Season 52.
As previously mentioned, the core of Bad News Capybaras (BNC) is based around the former Take Flyte core, with Kevin "Grave" Le, Caleb "jchancE" Davis, and Sebastian "cbass" Bentancor forming the nucleus of this roster. They are joined by former Phoenix player Gabriel "Gabe" Shah and the previously retired William "LaffyTs" Robertin on the starting lineup. Additionally, former Phoenix player John "mds" Marin has linked up with the squad as coach.
For LaffyTs, his addition to BNC marks a return to action after last playing in 2022. He was previously a teammate of Caleb "jchancE" Davis, Gabe, and mds on the likes of Vexo and Vexo Purple, explaining his sudden return despite a lack of CS2 experience.
Also of note, Gabe and mds' addition to BNC sees the duo return to ESL Challenger League after previously being disqualified from ESL Challenger League Season 48 and banned for two months from ESL events due to falsifying inclement weather to try and reschedule a match.
With their new additions, the former Take Flyte core will look to improve upon their results in the previous two ESL Challenger League seasons, which saw the team face the Relegation bracket twice.
