Liquid put an end to FURIA's playoff hopes
With elimination on the line after being sent down to the lower bracket by FaZe, Liquid found themselves facing FURIA yet again in Cologne, after having beaten the Brazilians during the Play-in stage.
With the series win, Liquid have knocked FURIA out of IEM Cologne, with the English-speaking squad now looking forward to facing the loser of the MOUZ v. Complexity match.
The series started off on Dust2, picked by Liquid, who took a commanding 5-1 T-side lead despite losing the pistol round. FURIA managed to shrink Liquid's lead to 8-4 by halftime and even took an 11-8 lead after winning seven straight rounds. Liquid climbed right back up and even had a chance to win in regulation but the map went to overtime. There, Liquid dominated and took the 16-13 win.
If Dust2 was a balanced map, Nuke would be the complete opposite, at least in the first half. Despite losing the pistol round again and finding themselves down 0-2 to start the second map, Liquid rallied with a ten-round win streak to reach the half with the victory almost in the bag. Without winning a single pistol round throughout the series, Liquid managed to take the 2-0 series win after a 13-4 Nuke victory.
