NA favorites finish IESF regional groups undefeated
Team USA were already guaranteed a playoff spot with their wins in their first two series, but theoretically the squad had the ability to concede the top seed in their group to Panama should they have dropped today's result. That did not happen however, as Panama forfeited the match and despite that will still be positioned to face Canada for a shot at heading to Riyadh this November as the second-place finisher in Group A. Collin "CoJoMo" Moren told to Dust2.us that no official reason was given to them for the forfeit.
Team Canada were already locked in for a match with Panama regardless of today's result, but that didn't stop them from taking care of business against Team Ecuador. The squad comprised of Homyno, plus Brandon "YuZ" Cyr in place of Jérémy "BiNoX" Chiasson, confidently dispatched the South American side with 13-11 and 13-5 wins on Inferno and Nuke, respectively. David "J0LZ" Jolin led map one with 23 kills, then doubled down with 17 more kills to lead Canada on map two and close out the victory.
Team USA finishes Group with a 3-0 record and an unchanged +34 round differential. They will await the winner of this evening's match between Costa Rica and Guatemala at 08:00PM, as the winner will be their opponent that stands between them and the 2024 IESF World Esports Championship in Saudi Arabia. Team Canada finished Group B with a 3-0 record and a +42 round differential and will face Panama, as previously mentioned.
