What to expect from Party Astronauts v. sunday school
After their crushing defeat against Aurora yesterday, Party Astronauts have been granted something of a reprieve as they are set to face sunday school, a mixteam that is the eighth seed and honestly just happy to be here. While PA struggle in international events, they should have all of the tools necessary to take an easy 2-0 win and advance to a rematch versus Aurora.
Party Astronauts go play
Party Astronauts have the experience, the players, the recent matches, everything they realistically need to smash sunday school. Legitimately, conceding more than 15 rounds or so should be considered an abject failure in this Bo3. The fraggers on PA should take this opportunity to recover mentally after the loss to Aurora yesterday.
-
WolfY had a complete meltdown against Aurora
-
Party Astronauts should use this match to just frag out and loosen up ahead of a likely Aurora rematch
-
Party Astronauts actually have a coach
Sunday stroll?
Understand that without being disparaging towards sunday school, there is no world in which Party Astronauts should lose to them. While the team does feature known names in the Australian scene, this is a team of semi-professional players that haven't played together since qualifying to the event in February. While they may win some duels here and there, this team shouldn't be a serious concern for Ben "ben1337" Smith's troops.
-
Liki is a talented rifler in the ANZ scene
-
Despite that, the whole team had a rough opener versus Apeks
-
Lemmy isn't really a coach, so his impact is limited
Previous Matchups
These two teams have obviously never played each other.
Likely Vetoes
There isn't too much insight to give here as sunday school doesn't play frequently and is for all intents and purposes a mixteam. As such, Party Astronauts don't have a lot to draw on, but at the same time should understand that their startbook runs way deeper on most maps than sunday school and therefore should be confident playing most maps.
As always, these vetoes come with the caveat that they are highly speculative as they depend on whether Party Astronauts as the higher-seeded team chooses to pick first or ban last. We will assume they ban last.
-
sunday school ban Overpass (Appears to be their permaban, PA have an 88% winrate on the map)
-
Party Astronauts ban Mirage (Permaban)
-
sunday school pick Nuke (100% Winrate)
-
Party Astronauts pick Ancient (82% Winrate)
-
Decider could be Anubis (sunday school has no maps on Inferno, and PA don't play Vertigo frequently)
Analysis: There's not a ton to say here, as previously mentioned. sunday school despite being a regular fixture of the Australian scene are essentially a black box as they haven't played many maps in the past three months. Regardless, Party Astronauts has a strong Winrate on many maps sunday school has zero maps played on, so this veto should be a cakewalk for the team.
Party Astronauts will face sunday school tonight at 11:00PM.
