M80 take down the #5 team in the world in best of three thriller

I'm sorry, what?

It might have been their own map pick, but M80 just shocked the world as they utterly dominated G2 on their pick of Ancient and then made Inferno and Vertigo two overtime, rip-roaring maps with the North Americans coming away with a monumental victory. M80 are coming back following one loss against BetBoom and a victory against Sharks while in the lower-bracket and will gladly take this statement win as they look to qualify for playoffs.

Ancient was not much to talk about as the North Americans dominant the game from the jump. M80 won the pistol, won round after round and had a 10-0 lead before G2 even looked like they were getting into the game. While the Europeans did get a first round and looked poised for a second, it was Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa to pull out the most insane 1v3 clutch to secure an 11th round. G2 would win the pistol, but M80 won the next two rounds to take a 13-2 victory.

Inferno was a much more challenging match for M80, despite the squad jumping out to another impressive early lead. It was 7-1 before G2 finally got their feet under them, but the Europeans soon starting rolling and turned the tide to make it a 10-7 lead. M80 were able to climb back and even it up to take it to overtime.

Once in those coveted few rounds, it was almost too easy for M80 as they had a strong economy to give them all the guns they needed. The squad were able to get two of the T-sided rounds putting them in the perfect position to close it out. However M80 were unable to convert it on their CT-side and one further overtime later they were headed to Vertigo.

The final map was always going to go M80's way. It was a poetic win, with the North American squad once again pulling out a strong first-half lead only to see it wither away. Despite losing some momentum towards the end of their T-side as they finished 7-5, they rebounded with a strong pistol round win through the first gun round to get a 10-5 advantage and inch closer to victory.

But it would be G2 to pull off an insane comeback as they inched their way back to tie it all up and force an overtime. Despite M80 taking the early advantage in the overtime against G2 just like on Inferno, however it would not end the same. M80 found themselves towards the end of their T-side as they were able to take an 18-15 lead but still couldn't close it out. It took until the third and final overtime for M80 to finally close it out 22-19.
