FACEIT invite 13-year-old prodigy to FPL South America
After an impressive performance during the FPL Proving Ground in February and continued outstanding showings in the platform, FACEIT has invited 13-year-old talent Gustavo "gtw" to join the FACEIT Pro League, where the best professional players and some selected players compete for the $50,000 monthly prize pool. He joined the competition at an even younger age than Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who was invited when he was only 14-years-old.
gtw is currently the #37 player in South America and his journey amongst the pros started with a 13-10 win over the BESTIA duo of Luciano "luchov" Herrera and Tomas "tomaszin" Corna.
gtw has played 18 matches since being added to FPL South America and is currently boasting a respectable 50% win rate. The prodigy is often seen topping the fragging list or close to doing so, even in lobbies filled with professional players.
gtw stated in early March that he wanted to play with the best from SA to gain more experience, citing FPL as a "huge opportunity". Just a month later, FACEIT added the young talent to the league and is making strides to become a professional Counter-Strike player.
Most events have a 16+ age restriction, meaning gtw will have to keep grinding FPL for three more years before he can be seen taking the stage of any big tournament. gtw's situation is similar to what João "snow" Vinicius went through a couple of years ago, who burst onto the scene at a young age but had to wait to turn 16 in order to join a team and play most tournaments.
