hallzerk was in great form on Vertigo

Complexity start strong in Katowice with win over Apeks

After a drought in results versus EU teams, Complexity have bounced back with a 2-0.

Complexity have started off their run at IEM Katowice 2024 with a bang, taking down European upstarts Apeks with a 2-0 featuring a tidy win on Vertigo and a labored success on Overpass. During the series, Complexity's performance was punctuated by great form from Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli on map one and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski on map two, with hallzerk's performance on Vertigo being a return to form for the Norwegian AWPer.

Starting on Vertigo, Complexity got off to a strong start on their CT-side, winning the opening pistol round before stacking up four more rounds before Apeks were able to get on the board. The rest of the half would be a relatively back-and-forth affair, albeit with Apeks making a great effort to close the gap, with the team trailing 5-7 heading onto Complexity's T-side. In the second half, Complexity burst out of the gate, winning their second pistol round of the series before winning four out of the next five rounds to find map point.

While Complexity looked set to finish the map then and there, Apeks found some gas in the tank, with Tim "nawwk" Jonasson leading the charge as Apeks won the next three rounds in a row in a tidy fashion. Fortunately for COL, this ended up being a storm in a teacup as the NA squad managed to finish things 13-9.

Moving into Overpass, Complexity started their T-side with their third pistol round in the series before Apeks answered back with a force buy win. This early answer back from Apeks would evolve into a full on tit-for-tat battle for Complexity and Apeks, with both squads spending the remainder of the half trading rounds before ultimately ending the half tied 6-6. During this first half, Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad in particular was a change maker as he found high impact on pistols, especially with the Desert Eagle, finding three kills with it on round four.

With Overpass tied up, Apeks managed to find their first pistol round of the series on their T-side, however this lead was exceedingly short lived as Complexity answered back with a force of their own to climb up to nine rounds. The NA squad would end up also being the first to find double digits on round 18, using this prime opportunity before a number of slip-ups allowed Apeks to even things up at 10-10. After a minor scare where Apeks were the first to find an eleventh round, before cleaning up an Apeks B rush to find match point before taking Overpass 13-11.
