Brazilian coach fired for arguing online with a fan
Over the weekend, Brazilian football and esports organization Flamengo announced the departure of their coach Pedro "SKY" Lahass after he got into an argument with a fan on X.
In the statement, Flamengo goes on to say:
Recently, an incident occurred where our coach was involved in a public argument with a fan. This attitude, although isolated, goes against the values we value as an organization. We believe in mutual respect, cordiality and valuing our fan community, which is our greatest asset.
According to Dust2 Brasil, the post that resulted in SKY's termination was as follows. In response to a fan questioning the team's map choice of Mirage, SKY says:
Your opinion and nothing are the same things to me, actually, the opinion of all you. We work from 10AM until 8PM, do you think we do it to hear the opinion of a laic on Twitter? Please, give us a bit more respect.
Ironically, Flamengo would go on to win Mirage 13-3 against Yawara in the South American open qualifiers for the BLAST Spring Showdown, however they would ultimately lose to RED Canids and fail to make it to the closed qualifier.
Due to that post, Flamengo ultimately decided to part ways with the coach, who previously worked with Meta, ODDIK, and UNO MILLE. The Brazilian squad is not searching for a new replacement at the time of publication.
