Nouns debut with win in Jönköping
Today was the first day of the ESL Challenger Jönköping and Nouns debuted against the Turkish side of Eternal Fire in a Bo1 match. After Monte beat TYLOO in the first match of the event, Nouns knew who their opponent was going to be, depending on the final score of the series against Eternal Fire.
The ESL Challenger events all follow the same format, with the group stage following the GSL format with a double elimination bracket where only the decider and elimination matches are Bo3 series.
The map of the match was Vertigo and Nouns started off by winning the CT-side pistol and the following round. Eternal Fire managed to quickly get a 4-3 lead and even got to a 7-3 advantage before Nouns got two rounds to close the half.
The second half started in the same way as the first, with Nouns winning the pistol and the second round but with EF managing to get the three next. After being down 10-7, Nouns strung together five rounds to reach a 12-10 lead. Eternal Fire got close, but Nouns closed the map 13-11.
With this win, Nouns will face Monte in the qualification match for a spot in the playoffs. Even if the North Americans lose, they will still have another chance in the decider series against the winner of Eternal Fire vs. TYLOO.
