Imperial crumble versus Monte, what went wrong?
Imperial started life without enigmatic leader Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo on the wrong foot as they threw away a good halftime position to leave themselves fighting for their tournament lives at IEM Cologne.
HEN1 shines in spite of defeat
Henrique "HEN1" Teles has the unenviable task of filling FalleN's shoes with the AWP, and against Monte he was the engine for Imperial's limited success posting a 1.26 rating on Nuke topping the server for the team. HEN1 has long been one of the most talked about talents from the Brazilian scene but since he left FURIA has struggled to find form and a home on a competitive team. Now on Imperial he has the chance to once again show his prowess.
Monte team effort
Monte's success was largely attributed to the immense talent of Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas during their rise, however with the Jordanian star now out of the picture it was a team effort that got the Ukrainian side over the line against Imperial. Sergiy "DemQQ" Demchenko, Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev and Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk all posted ratings above 1.29 whilst none of the players posted a negative rating.
CT-side crumble
The real problem for Imperial was their devastating crumble on their CT side, traditionally the easier side on Nuke. After posting a respectable seven rounds on the T side, the game plan seemingly fell to pieces as the Brazilian side only managed one round on the CT side. Hopefully, for Imperial it will be an isolated incident, but it will certainly be interesting to see how their CT sides go for the rest of the tournament.
What next for Imperial?
Imperial now will face the Australian side Grayhound to stay alive in the competition after the Aussies lost to FalleN's new team FURIA 16-11.
