Complexity unable to beat hometown heroes
Coming off of a heart-attack of a best-of-one against ECSTATIC, where the North Americans blew a 12-3 lead only to win 16-14, they had to play the local invite in Grayhound, who do not have jerseys available due to a recent pirate attack.
Grayhound, who were also coming off of a strong win against North American side EG Black, were inspired by the hometown crowd who were raucously cheering for their national team. Now, they had to go and fight against another NA side in Complexity, who are considered one of the favorites for the event.
The match seemed to come down to how the vetoes and maps stacked up against one another. With Complexity ultimately choosing between Inferno and Vertigo, they elected for the latter.
Complexity began on their T-side, to which they struggled to get things going in the beginning, but would climb out of a 0-4 hole to go ahead 6-5. This would be the end of their rounds in the half as Grayhound bounced back to secure their CT-side 9-6.
With the Americans finally able to play defense, they would once again lose the pistol and successive rounds, putting them down 6-13. They would be able to claw their way back into the game at 11-13, but Grayhound finally found their footing and closed it out 16-11.
Complexity will be playing the winner of ECSTATIC vs EG Black at 03:00AM tomorrow for a chance at the semifinals where they will play Movistar Riders.
