Evil Geniuses invited to CCT Central Europe Series 6
Evil Geniuses' newest player Ismail "refrezh" Ali finally made his European debut for the team today as the squad was invited directly to CCT Central Europe Series 6. The Seattle-based organization has only played domestic competitions such as qualifiers since signing the Dane, however, their quarter-final matchup against Swedish side EYEBALLERS marks their debut together across the Atlantic. Unfortunately, their first outing as a five was delayed until map three due to Jerric "wiz" Jiang being subbed in favor of David "forsyy" Bílý for the first two maps.
It has been a tough time for Evil Geniuses thus far in 2023. Finishing last at BLAST Spring Groups, IEM Katowice Play-in and ESL Pro League Season 17, the team also missed out on the RMR before being added as a late replacement for Detonate. Being knocked out of the Major qualifier, the announcement came that Jadan "HexT" Postma was to be replaced by former Heroic player refrezh, however, the Dane has remained living in Europe resulting in his ping being quite high when playing as of late.
Now that the team is competing in Europe, it is unclear how long they will remain overseas for this stint. CCT marks the first EU tournament that the side has participated in, and with the Major fast approaching in the next week and a half, the team will have plenty of scrim options available to them for the duration of their stay on the continent.
