Maluk3 on malbsMd: "He has the potential to become one of the best in the world"
Just after the loss against Liquid, Pedro "Maluk3" Campos spoke with Liam "Slevo" Slevin from Dust2us to talk about the game, Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, the potential end of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's career and the current state of the Brazilian Counter-Strike scene.
You have just played your first game of the RMR against Liquid. Considering the form of Liquid, how tough was it to prepare for that game?
We knew it would be a tough game, they are one of the best teams in the Americas RMR. We imagine they would be very aggressive and they confirmed it during the game. We failed in some details and against this kind of team we can't make those mistakes and that's why we lost.
It was a best-of-one and it went to Dust2, which can be a map that can upset teams no matter how good they are on it. Were you surprised it went to Dust2 or were you prepared for that to be the map?
We were not surprised, we knew Dust2 could be one of the options and we studied Liquid's game on Dust2. Not surprised.
You guys have been in good form, winning qualifiers, such as the qualifier for Rotterdam. How does it feel to be at a tournament like this where you have teams like Liquid, FURIA, and some other higher-end teams?
It's a good opportunity for us to test our level. We are growing in the North American scene. We just finished playing one of the best teams in the world and there are still a lot of games to be played, we have a chance and we are going to continue to believe and play our Counter-Strike. We will definitely be challenged more and let's see how we do against those better teams.
malbsMd and trk are two players you have played previously. They went to other teams and came back now. What is it like having two players of that caliber on your team?
I'm very happy to be playing with them because they are good players, good people. We are happy with our roster right now.
malbsMd kind of struggled to hit the form that he had in the previous oNe team when he was at 00 Nation. He's been amazing since coming back. Have you been setting him up differently than before or is it just the same malbsMd as before?
malbsMd came back as a more complete player, in my opinion. He had an experience with 00NATION alongside very good players, with legends of our scene and I believe he matured and for me, he is at a good level. We have been trying to correct some things with him and the team, some habits. He has the potential to become one of the best in the world.
Earlier today FalleN hinted that his career might be winding down and he might not have many tournaments left in him. Since you have been around the scene for so long, what does FalleN mean to that scene and to you personally?
A lot of people are here because of him and everything he did for the Brazilian scene, everything he does is like a mirror to us. Personally, I have known him for many years, I've played against him in 1.6. He had a beautiful career and from the bottom of my heart, I think he deserves to qualify for the major. I, for one, am hoping that Imperial qualifies.
As you said, many players from Brazil have made it here because of FalleN. The scene is pretty good at the moment for having top teams. What are your thoughts on the current state of Brazilian CS?
We have good teams and good players. Brazil for me is a machine for making good players. New talents don't stop coming, and coupled with experienced players will grow more and more. I think Brazil is not at its peak, but we have some good teams and I believe we will have some Brazilian teams qualifying for the major.
We spoke with KSCERATO earlier today and when we asked who his surprise team he thinks could go through was he said you guys. For you, what is a Brazilian team people might not expect to go through but you think can do very well here?
oNe could surprise, I agree. O PLANO can surprise as well. We both can surprise anyone, in my opinion.
oNe are currently playing Imperial in a 1-2 match-up where they are one map down. The losing team will be eliminated.
