Nouns had the true PLANO after nail-biting match
With both teams sitting at 1-2, the winner would end up with an even scoreline and stay in the running to make the Major, while the loser would end their Major qualification run. As such, the Brazilians took the Americans to their map pick Nuke to begin the best of three. After that, Inferno was Nouns' chosen playground with Vertigo as the decider if necessary.
Nuke started out with Nouns on their CT-side making a mockery of O PLANO's T-side, picking up the first six rounds of the series. O PLANO whimpered one in return before Nouns responded in kind. However, O PLANO woke up to the gravity of the situation and won all but one of the remaining rounds, snagging 7 rounds for a very respectable T-side.
O PLANO's pistol and conversion brought them to the lead for the first time on the map, and they continued to win the round-for-round scraps, taking leads at 12-9 and 14-11. A late half resurgence pulled Nouns into the match, bringing it back to 15-14 and eventually overtime as well. Unfortunately, their overtime CT-side was not up to snuff as O PLANO took two on their own CT-side and the first two on their T-side, taking their own map pick 19-16 in overtime.
Down but not out, Nouns moved onto their own map pick, Inferno. Nouns picked up the first pistol, but what followed can only be called a complete dismantling of their T-side as O PLANO picked up eight in a row before the American side mustered a response. O PLANO then trade out the remaining rounds favorable, ending the half nine rounds in their advantage at 12-3.
A stellar pistol round brought some hope into Nouns' eyes as they took the requisite first round in the second half and the following conversion as well. The SMG bonus round surprisingly comes through too, but Nouns' run is cut short by an unfortunate disconnect, giving O PLANO their first round in the second half at 13-7. Nouns looked to put the tech issue behind them with a staunch defense taking the following round. A 1v2 from Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk gave Nouns double digits as the round difference shortened.
O PLANO did answer back with a force-buy victory, cutting Nouns' celebrations short. The rounds went back and forth but the Americans' grit and determination led them to equal O PLANO's own CT-side, sending us into the second overtime of the series. Nouns' first double AWP setup found success in the first round of overtime, but O PLANO ripped that round advantage back immediately, but Nouns were eager to win back their first advantage since the pistol round, taking their CT-side 17-16. They traded rounds one for one and a valiant 1v4 attempt from cxzi almost ended the second map right there but instead, second overtime was required.
Nouns picked up two rounds in this overtime's T-side, just one less than the did in the fifteen rounds of T-side in regulation. Only needing two more rounds to win the map, Nouns were on the right foot and did just that, winning Inferno 22-20.
Nouns got out to an early lead on their CT-side on the decider Vertigo, taking four rounds before O PLANO struck back with seven of their own, completely decimating Nouns' defense round after round. Finally, Nouns struck back with three of their own at the end of the half, to finish with a respectable seven rounds.
Taking the pistol round in the second half on their T-side, Nouns started off on the best foot possible to claim the match victory. Converting the next two rounds as well they were up 10-8. The Brazilian side looked like they were going to come back though, moving to take the next four for 12-10. Nonetheless, cxzi stepped up, posting a 130.8 ADR in the second half and securing every remaining round for Nouns to take the match 16-12.
O PLANO are eliminated from the Americas RMR, and Nouns are 2-2, with their next matchup yet to be determined.
