Singularity's debut event with Shakezullah didn't go as planned

Singularity eliminated in Copenhagen Games BYOC quarterfinals

A loss in the BYOC portion sees Singularity sent home just short of a spot in the main event.

Singularity's run in the BYOC portion of Copenhagen Games 2019 has come to an end following a loss to Söderberg & Partners, a Danish mix-team composed primarily of ex-Fragsters members.

The loss sees Singularity sent packing from the event in 5-8th place, whereas a win in the quarterfinal matchup would have advanced the team to the main event. A bootcamp with their new in-game leader Alan "Shakezullah" Hardman proved to not be enough as the team managed two best-of-three series victories before being eliminated.

Curiously, all three series that Singularity played included Vertigo, the most recent addition to the competitive map pool. Singularity chose the map as their pick in their first round of 32 matchup against Nova, picking up a 2-0 series victory by dominating on Overpass 13-2 in the first half before closing out the map 16-9. Vertigo initially resulted in a closer back-and-forth, with Singularity taking a narrow 8-7 lead at the half before grabbing a second 16-9 victory to close out the series.

A similar scenario occured in the round of 16 as Singularity went up against FASTLOSE, with Vertigo being picked by the Danish-Swedish mix as the first map. A narrow 16-14 win on Vertigo initially granted FASTLOSE the lead in the series, but a quick reply with another 13-2 half on Overpass allowed for Singularity to even the score at 1-1. FASTLOSE put Singularity on the back foot to start the deciding map of Mirage, managing an 8-1 lead before Singularity rallied back, granting their opponents just three additional rounds to take Mirage 16-11.

Singularity's final match at the event was in the quarterfinals, with everything on the line as a win would advance the squad to the eight-team main event, and a loss would send them home. A rough CT start for Singularity on Söderberg & Partners' pick of Nuke saw the American team garner only eight rounds, to which they added an additional trio at the start of the second half. Söderberg & Partners strung together eight rounds of their own to attain match point, but Singularity managed to push the map to overtime, where they narrowly edged out the map 19-17.

Söderberg & Partners replied back on Singularity's pick of Mirage, taking five uncontested rounds before Singularity got on the board with one of their own. Although they managed to keep themselves competitive at the end of the half as they trailed by a single round, Singularity quickly found themselves shutout as Söderberg & Partners' CT-side proved to be superior, with the Danes taking a 16-12 map victory to force the deciding map of Vertigo.

It was here that Singularity's situation turned grim, with the two teams evenly splitting the first six rounds for a 3-3 scoreline. Singularity quickly found themselves picked apart by Jacob "dragonfly" Lund, with the American team managing just one additional round in the half as Söderberg & Partners mustered an 11-4 T-side half. Singularity kept themselves in the map following the side swap, managing a string of six rounds, but Söderberg & Partners replied with a five-round streak of their own to close out the map 16-10 and take the series for themselves.

They lost to a shit EU pug mix, its just that an ESEA Main EU pug mix is equally as skilled as a lower tier NA pro team.

They bootcamped btw. ANd just lost to an obscure Norweigan mix team called Apeks

Apeks isn't a Norwegian mix-team, they're one of the larger organizations in Norway. They have some pretty interesting players including Polly who played most notably for LGB and London Conspiracy back in the day. Also, Söderberg & Partners is just ex-Fragsters with notable players like Frøslev, torben, and dragoNfly. Like they probably could have beat them, but at the same time its not like they lost to complete nobodies. For the team's first LAN with Shakezullah, I think they acquitted themselves pretty well.

I feel like you only say that because you set the bar super low for NA MDL teams, which is appropriate ye but I rather hold them to the same standard I would an EU MDL team.
