Second Mythic Cup announced; Singularity, Bad News Bears invited
Mythic have announced the second iteration of the Mythic Cup, an eight-team tournament that now boasts a $2,000 prize pool — a $500 increase from the first cup that saw Singularity take home the top prize with a 2-0 win over Chris and the boys. Both finalists have been invited to the second cup, joining the likes of Mythic and Bad News Bears on the teamlist.
A majority of the seven invited teams from the first Mythic Cup return for the second, with the newcomers being Bad News Bears and Spacestation. One final team will earn a spot through an open qualifier, which will take place over two days starting on May 3rd at 7 PM EDT and concluding the following day. The format for the qualifier is also unchanged from the first cup, with matches playing out as best-of-ones until four teams remain, at which point best-of-threes will be played to determine the champion.
The main event will play out on May 5th, starting at 5 PM EDT with the quarterfinals. Dust2.us knows that Mythic League have made a change to the format of the Mythic Cup, resulting in only best-of-three games being played. The first Cup mirrored the format of the qualifier, resulting in the quarterfinal round of matches playing out as best-of-ones and seeing the swift elimination of four teams.
The team list for the second Mythic Cup looks as follows:
Bad News Bears | Chris and the boys |
Mythic | Party Astronauts |
Royal | Singularity |
Spacestation | Open Qualifier |
Signups for the open qualifier will remain open on the organizer's FACEIT page until May 3rd at 6 PM EDT, with the likes of LiviD, Hysteria, and Dogs of War already signed up.
