LiviD top Mythic Cup qualifier; bracket drawn
The open qualifier for the first Mythic Cup has concluded, seeing 114 teams take part in an effort to secure a single qualification slot in tomorrow's $1,500 tournament. The winner of the qualifier was none other than the French-Canadian roster of LiviD, who defeated Oceanic in a best-of-three grand final to earn their spot in the main event.
The qualifier saw a number of familiar names from ESEA Advanced attempt to make their way through the bracket, including IdentityDisorder, Legacy, Dogs of War, Hyper, LiviD, Oceanic, and FakeOut. Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik also made an appearance alongside Loic "effys" Sauvageau under the tag On Fait Quoi, but fell to a mix-team headed by Addison "zecK" Gorzeck in the round of 16.
zecK's mix-team went on to drop their next matchup against LiviD, who earned a spot in the semifinals against Hyper. On the opposite side of the bracket, Oceanic and FakeOut battled past mix-teams of their own, with Oceanic taking down Mario "MARIO" Wakim's Conquest roster while FakeOut claimed victory over Jonathan "djay" Dallal and Austin "RenZ" Dickman's Ghost Academy lineup.
The semifinal round of matches also went more or less as expected, with LiviD and Oceanic both securing 2-0 wins over Hyper and FakeOut, respectively. The grand finals were just as swift, with LiviD sweeping the series for an undefeated run through the qualifier by grabbing a 16-7 win on Nuke before closing out Mirage 16-10.
With LiviD topping the open qualifier, the teamlist for the Mythic Cup is now complete. The bracket for the tournament, slated to kick off tomorrow at 5 PM EDT, looks as follows:
Singularity | vs. | LiviD |
Old Guys Club | vs. | Party Astronauts |
Chris and the boys | vs. | Polar Ace |
Royal | vs. | Mythic |
The entire Mythic Cup will play out tomorrow, with select matchups being streamed on one of the two Mythic League Twitch channels.
