ESL announce updated Transfer Regulations for Pro League Season 9
ESL have announced some slight changes to the Pro League Transfer Regulations ahead of Season 9, which is set to start in a months time.
As is to be expected, the changes center around the league moving from a long-running online season to offline groups.
The first tweak is to move the roster submission deadline out to three weeks before the start of the season, in order for the tournament organizer to facilitate travel bookings for the teams. The previous roster submission deadline was ten days before the start of the season.
With Season 9 set to commence on April 12th, that would mean the roster submission deadline is March 22nd — less than two weeks away. With teams such as Cloud9, Envy, Swole Patrol, and mousesports currently not at full-strength, it is a date that fans should keep in the back of their minds.
The next change to the league's trade deadline applies to the other end of the season. Previously, it was stated to be " 5pm EST on the date that is the calendar day prior to the last two scheduled match days of the pertinent regular Season for the League." Since each group will finish on a different date in the new format, the deadline has now been amended to be "5pm EST on the date that is three calendar days after the last scheduled match day of the pertinent regular Season for the League."
Additionally, a provision has been added which will prohibit teams from adding players who participated with another team in the regular season.
The final change, a relatively minor one, removes the need for teams to keep their ESEA pages up to date.
