EliGE: "If every rookie was working like oSee right now, we would have so many good players"
In the most recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski spoke about the recent addition of Joshua "oSee" Ohm to Liquid and how he has exceeded expectations that the team had for him. Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill started the conversation when he inquired about how Liquid returned their playstyle to having a dedicated AWPer compared to the previous years when the green gun fell to multiple people.
As one of Liquid's newest additions, alongside French import Richard "shox" Pappillon and the returning Nick "nitr0" Cannella, oSee is no stranger to representing a major North American organization. Following Cloud9's acquisition of the ATK roster at the start of 2020, oSee would spend the majority of the year representing the historic brand. Unfortunately for oSee, global competition at the highest level would be difficult to come by during his Cloud9 tenure as a result of the initial COVID-19 outbreak in March of 2020. While the young AWPer has competed at the highest level occasionally during his time in ATK, Cloud9, and Extra Salt, his time in this Liquid roster will provide his first real test against the best the Counter-Strike scene has to offer.
Although oSee is considered to be a rookie in terms of Tier 1 Counter-Strike, you wouldn't be able to tell from his play thus far in a Liquid jersey. Joining the lineup off the back of a highly-touted run as part of an exciting Extra Salt lineup, oSee has stood out despite Liquid failing to set the world alight with their initial results. The only negative rating that the 22-year-old AWPer has posted since joining came at IEM Katowice with a 0.87 rating, with the highest rating on the team being Keith "NAF" Markovic's 0.90 rating, as they bombed out in last place. Some of the brilliance that oSee is capable of was on display in the recent group stage of ESL Pro League Season 15, where he posted a team-high 1.26 rating, helping his side qualify for the playoff phase.
Not only did EliGE endorse oSee as a result of his play and his work ethic, but he also pointed toward his excellent communication, stating that "he's eloquent with his speech and how he wants to communicate, and he think that [he] has really good communication skills." While the incredible mechanical skill is evident through the eye test, the praise with regard to oSee's work ethic and communication skills paint the picture of a complete package in terms of potential for the young North American player.
Being a breakout rookie in global Counter-Strike has proven to be a tough, yet achievable possibility in recent years. French superstar Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut in 2019, and Ukrainian major winner Valeriy "b1t" Vakhovskiy in 2021, had stellar breakout years with Vitality and Natus Vincere respectively. Both of these players stamped their names in Counter-Strike lore in their opening years on the big stage, and following the glowing recommendation from one of the best players NA has produced, oSee seemingly has the right tools to follow in their footsteps.
