NRG run out of power in New York
The first semi-final of the day has concluded at ESL One New York, and the result was not what the home crowd had hoped for.
Inferno started well for NRG, as they picked up the pistol on the Terrorist side, and were able to follow it up with one round. mousesports got on the board in the third round, but were immediately reset by the North Americans, who got another two rounds on the board. However, Miikka "suNny" Kemppi and the rest of mousesports began to wake up, going on an eight round streak to storm to the lead, and closing out the half 10-5.
With mousesports winning the second pistol, they raced to 14-5, and despite an attempted comeback from NRG, they were unable to hold off the Europeans forever.
mousesports continued their roll on Nuke, picking up the crucial pistol round on T-side. NRG got back into the match with a win in the third round, and went on a five round tear, which would prove to be the majority of their rounds for the half, which ultimately ended 8-7 in the North Americans favor.
Once the Europeans got onto the defensive side, however, it was all them, as they recovered from a pistol round loss to nearly blank NRG. Aside from a 1v3 clutch by AWPer Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov, NRG were powerless to break through the mousesports defense, and ultimately fell 16-11, seeing them eliminated from the tournament.
Coming up next at the Barclays Center will be Liquid taking on CIS squad Gambit, with the North American team looking to send at least one home team through to the Grand Final.
