Ghost eliminated by Kinguin in Hong Kong
Ghost's run in Hong Kong has come to an end, after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Polish side Kinguin.
Josh "steel" Nissan's men got off to a good start on Mirage, but were immediately reset, allowing Kinguin to build a 5-1 lead. Miraculously, the North Americans were able to recover, and wound up barely winning the half.
Kinguin won the second half pistol, as well as the following two rounds, before Ghost went on a six round offensive tear. At this point Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski and the Poles stepped up on defense, closing out six rounds of their own to take the map 16-14.
Moving onto Nuke, Ghost again showed that they are willing and capable of taking down European opposition on the much maligned map. Led by their captain, they nearly won their Terrorist half, and then closed the door on Kinguin, dropping only a single round on the CT side.
Alas, for all their dominance on Nuke, Overpass reared its ugly head for steel and his men. In a map that played out to the inverse of the previous, this time it was Kinguin holding the narrow 8-7 lead at the half. It was a lead that Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas and his men would not relinquish, losing only one round on their Terrorist side, and sending Ghost packing.
Team captain steel made no secret about his feelings after the match concluded:
He also documented his displeasure in the lead up to the match, in a series of tweets.
MIBR and MVP PK are currently playing at ZOTAC, with both teams hoping to reach the grand final to take on Kinguin. If MIBR are able to maintain their form from yesterday, they should have no trouble against the Koreans — though a North American showdown is now out of the questin.
Ghost don't have long to rest up, as they will next be partaking in DreamHack Masters Stockholm, which is set to start in four days. They have been drawn into a group with Natus Vincere, NiP, and fellow North Americans NRG.
