JamezIRL: "We can win games, and we're provocative"
Yesterday Josh "steel" Nissan and Torqued blew the Russians of Vega Squadron out of the water at cs_summit 2. Though there are no press attending the event, Collin "CarbonDogma" Davis was able to catch up with the team's coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay via Skype to discuss the event so far and how the team is looking. We've compiled some choice excerpts below.
On the match versus Vega Squadron:
I think we played without fear, we weren't scared to make a buy at a certain time, we weren't scared to peek. In any equal gun battle, I felt like our guys were confident. They could make any play look strategically viable.
Regarding Torqued replacing OpTic at the event:
Obviously we are very thankful, a lot of teams in Pro League voiced their discontent with us being invited over them. We can see both sides of the coin, if I was on one of those teams, I probably would have said something similar, I don't know if I would have actively Tweeted it out, but I can understand it.
However, the players on our team are pretty solid, and from the perspective of the broadcaster, we have players on our team that bring viewers, because they are provocative in some way. Whether that be positive or negative [...] they bring viewers because they are interesting. You can't argue with that. Whether you think that is a valid reason to be invited or not, we can win games, and we are provocative, so that's just the way it is.
steel on the match against Liquid:
Win or lose, the game should be fun, we're looking forward to it. It will be the battle of the steels. It should be a good test for us. I'm hoping that we are able to pull through. Online results in scrims against them, they've had our number a little bit. So we are going to figure out how to do this and be able to beat them. But I'm happy with our progress today, and I'm thinking that we can continue it tomorrow.
