Cloud9 overpowers Luminosity to advance to semis

America’s team has taken down #3 in Brazil for a spot in the playoffs tomorrow.

Funnily enough, the first two maps are arguably the best two maps for both of these teams, where Luminosity picked Cache and Cloud9 Train. Cache started off with Luminosity taking the pistol and the following two rounds as standard. Cloud9 however proceeded to have a quite dominant CT side, and held LG to only five rounds total in the first half. Luminosity repeated their pistol performance in the second half, but even the plays of Gustavo “yeL” Knittel couldn’t stop the path of destruction wrought by Will “RUSH” Wierzba, resulting in a 16-12 win for Cloud9.

Cloud9’s pick, as you’d expect, favored Cloud9 more strongly. Luminosity were the pistol masters this match, as they won both on this map as well. But C9 didn’t let that discourage them, as Jake “Stewie2K” Yip and Tarik “tarik” Celik led by example and guided Cloud9 towards a 13-2 first half. At that point the result was inevitable, and Luminosity eventually fell 16-5 to the Americans.

Cloud9 will now face off against North in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon.
